Welcome to Gladwin Michigan on Smallwood Lake, Northern Michigan Starts Here. Centrally located to many attractions yet far enough away to see the stars at night. The is UP NORTH to all who own cottages on Smallwood Lake yet are fairly close to Detroit only 2 1/2 hours away. Smallwood Lake was dammed up in the 1930’s and is actually 16 miles long and is perfect for Pontoon Boats, Jet Skis and Power Boats with Water Skiers. A popular pontoon boat pastime is searching out all the little tributaries, waving at all the cottage owners sitting by the bonfires and/or parking your boat at the Wooden Shoe Bar/Restaurant located directly on the lake for a cool refreshment. Also popular is our 4th of July Parade of Boats show. Smallwood Lake is an All Sports Lake with a public boat launch. Gladwin is also “Amish Town.” Don’t be surprised to see the Amish buggies parked at the grocery store and/or riding through the streets of Gladwin.

Walk to Wooden Shoe Bar/Restaurant after a day of boating, just a short distance away.

Fishing is king on this lake with several fishing tournaments held here.
